That Time for Illumination in Tokyo, Again

I know it is so very very late to talk about illumination in this new year, not to mention its 12th already, but in Tokyo, usually until mid Jan, the illumination is still the hot spot everywhere! So i think its still quite acceptable to talk about illumination now.. I guess.

In Tokyo, when it’s still November, for God sake, around two months before Christmas, all the Christmas trees, decoration, special Christmas edition food and etc have already been sold almost, everywhere. I don’t know about other country though since my own country, Indonesia didn’t celebrate Christmas quite as festive as Tokyo but how about your country? Is it the same commercialism Christmas fever??? Quite curious. This Christmas feels soooooooo long since it was already started on November. Quite glad it’s over.

However, when it’s Christmas in Tokyo, we mostly talk about illumination. It’s everywhereeeee and yes it started almost early November too. Talking about Irony. However for this year I only have the chance to take photos of the illumination lights around a place called Nakameguro (中目黒) along the river.  I went there with my Singaporean boy friend. Not boyfriend. A gap between words makes a difference. And that’s how friendzone were born.

This year theme is  “青の洞窟”, “Ao no Dokutsu”, or “Blue Cave”, so they set all the lights around the river, blue. All blueeeee.

At first quite it was quite a shock in the eye though, with all the blue lights. But when got used to it, it was quite pretty!

And not to forget that since Nakameguro seems to be a place that are well known for actor or actress to live here, there are so many stylish (and looks expensive) small fashion, accessories store, cafes along the river too.

Sorry for purple-ish picture..

And this is the main picture!! The best spot for taking photos is the bridge!!

That’s why the crowd were like this along the bridge.

At this time, the crowd is getting dense, so we decided to have a quick stroll and find  place to eat. After some strolling and some arguments, yeah, we decided to stop at quite a fancy Izakaya (drink house) and fill our super duper fungry stomach.

A place full of salaryman, but I think this time they are quite the “more proper” or “economically better” salaryman.

Why? Based on the price menu that I saw, it’s not as cheap as the usual Izakaya here in Japan (which for average normal izakaya, you can spend around 1000 yen per person while here myself spend around 3000 yen).

We ordered some kind of black-spiced chicken, and of course in the cold weather like this nabe is the perfect choice! Slurpie.

And I kinda feel that since I went there with my friend, which is a male, the waitress there gave us several service food like free heart shaped spiced rice, free dessert with inverted crescent moon on Singaporean flag trying to be our wingman but, tsk tsk. Sorry you fail maaan. We ate everything without any feeling and feel happy cause more free food. Hahaha.

And why Singapore flag??? Yes, they ask us where are we coming from, and I just lazily said Im a Singaporean too. Usually when I say Indonesia, all the Japanese didn’t know where that is. Once I said Bali, the directly know. How sad. They really think that Indonesia is inside Bali you know!!! How fucked up is that hahahaha.

If residency based on how many times I told people I’m Singaporean and how Singlish now my English has become, I  think I can be a permanent resident of Singapore now.

After finish with our meal, we decided to take stroll again around Nakameguro and found several small illumination garden.

It’s not as pretty as the blue one, but still it’s quite pretty.

In regret I have to say that was all of my illumination picture I have for this year. I didn’t have any chance to go anywhere else since all the  best spot is quite far from where I live and also have no time, I have to keep in mind that my 2014 illumination memories were placed on this blue cave in Nakameguro.

Anyway, its never too late to say Merry Christmas 2014 and Happy New Year 2015!!

(as long as it still January.............

...........yeah)
