Fashion Design Ought To Be! PROMS Night

From this September, I'm kinda busy with this fashion competition matter. To be exact, it was a fashion design competition which is held by Management Student Society of Faculty Economics of University of Indonesia. The event was called "The 7th Project on the Moves (PROMS)". This year, PROMS focusing on fashion aspect, while on the other year they were focusing on sports, culture, etc.

The main event was held on 6th of October where 6 best finalist compete with each other based on their design. Yes, I was chosen as the best 6, so I was given a chance to did my real clothes based on design, having runway shoes sponsored (yay!), and the most important thing is, I was given my own little fashion show on the venue.

Exciting? Not so much. In spite of the mini exciting fashion show, we had to present our design concept to the judge who will comment on our design and decide the winner.

However, still, it was truly a little gift from God that I've gone this far. From the first time I joined the competition (submit my design) I had very less expectation and this kind of "nothing to lose" feeling. Win? Good! Lose? So what.

And then voila! I've made it to the best 6. This is my design nominated as the best 6:

Yay! I didn't receive the prize though. I've nominated 4th from 6th on the final judging.
And money only came to the big 3. Poor me. It's slipping away in front of me!!

Anyway it's me presenting:

The judges (Forgot the name - Deden Siswanto - Melia something; SORRY THOUGH FOR FORGETTING):

each of them specialised on their own field: fashion marketing, fashion design, and fashion retailer. They asked us questions based on their own specialties.

Taking photos with my model after the presentation runway:

She is very beautiful and damn skinny and talented! Not being subjective, but I think she is the most talented model between other finalists' model. She walks like a professional already. Really. Not to say that there were several models that walks very bad, poor figure and even trip off! Geez. I'm blessed to have her.

I'm kinda sad though I didn't win. No, very SAD. Honestly, I've smiled so much on the announcement yet I've cried as much as I've smiled on my home. Haha.

My mom was so confused and desperately comforting me with some kind of silly statements such as "Mehh that's just a competition", "The judges all have bad taste", "Your level are higher than this they don't understand" etc etc and that wasn't truly comforting. Hahaha.

That day, I was just too emotional, tired; thinking how much effort and money I've spent  for this event, yet I didn't win.

Writing this reminding me of that silly moment.

Well, to me now, It was just a matter of luck, maybe. Being given this rare chance, is truly a miracle. I have to remember that. No expectation, remember? :)

This is me, commenting on how great the event are before the announcement:

The announcement, I was given the certificate and several small gifts and voucher and stuffs:

All of the finalist. Congratulation! Still, I hate losing. Haha.

And now, the most interesting part! Shoes!!

I want to share a bit about the shoes.

Remember when I said the runway shoes are sponsored? Yes, I've submit my design and several expected materials to the sponsor hoping that they'll make it as I've expected. The result? NO. It was far from my expectation.

This is the result:

It was beautiful (in spite of poor hand stitch) really, but far from my expectation. For instance, I wanted the
cloth is the same as the cape in my designed clothes (see picture) which is dark-green tulle. The sponsor reported me that they were having trouble with the tulle material that they were easily torn if stitched. So, they replaced the material WHICH I expect is close to my request.

Looking on this far-from-my-request shoes, Finally I did some knick-knack on this shoes. I've replaced the
light green material with my leftover tulle, stitched and glued it by myself, and here are the result:

Much, much better, I think. That's the design I've requested, (half)made by me. The green-color matched perfectly with the cape, and everybody says it was cute!
But in the end the shoes were turned back to the sponsor. So sad I thought they were for us, the finalists! TT

However, in the end, this event was freaaaakingly memorable (in spite of still so much to be complained for about the event especially the competition; but nah! We're all make mistakes. I'm done bulking everyone). Thanks for those who already supported me, my parents, friends especially Molen who I bet fuckingly tired for transporting my clothes to his tailor for every revision I've made, to the shoe sponsor, my model, new friends although we were all competitor at that time, event committees, and others.

No thanks to the judges though *still bulking*.

Looking forward to this kind of event in no time! :D
