There's Goodbye in Every Hello

Finally, the day when my internship program was coming to an end on 18th of September, 2012. Sure I'll miss this place a lot. I've really enjoyed myself while I'm working here. Great experience and stuffs, moreover great friends and memorable moments. From signing contracts, community day meetings, overtime work hour, community day, night out, and others.

Time flew fast, didn't day? Oh, and they always will.

I'm sure will be missing this office a lot.

This is my last desk before I'm done. Actually, my other friends done 1 week before me, because I'm the one who have been late (for 1 week) in joining the program. So, for 1 week, I'm the only internee here. I'm the maknae!

And here is the overall situation on my floor:

Quite neat and worker friendly actually. However, to be honest, I'm getting bored of this place in less than 2 months (while my intern program was 3 months period)

This was taken actually about 2 weeks before my last day. Several internees were already on their last day so we gathered together to get some snaps. Oh, we took it with Mrs. Lolly (3rd person from the left, standing row) who were always with us as a VE coordinator. She's like office-mother to us. Enough said.

And then, below are my 2 favorite seniors, teachers, friends and couple in this office! So far, they are the most unmatched couple I've seen, but somehow made for each other, on the other hand they are both funny like shit, always ranting and joking for some unbelievable stuffs. Looking forward to meet you guys again!

VE Community Day - Never Say Never

I know that this event was already done waaaayyyy to long ago, on 27 August 2012, but still, worth to tell.
At last during my internship period on August, we, as internees managed to do a Community Service that we have been planning since the first day we met on the office.

The event was held on DILTS Foundation, which is a foundation made by love from a couple to children who needs proper education. For more click here!

Anyway, we planned the whole thing like crazy. Between work and meetings (and several fun night out :) ) we managed to bring this event to the children there. We mixed a gathering, games, motivation session into one series of event which were very fun in the end!

Here are several photos from the events:

#1 The beginning of the event. Never say Never! is our main theme, where we support the children to keep chasing their dreams and be grateful for their opportunities to be given a proper education from the foundation itself. Thus, they have to keep learning to reach a better future!

#2 The first bingo game! Here we were "forced" to mingling with each other by this personality-bingo-game! The children have to search for the right person matched for each personalities in the paper in order to get the paper marked and achieving "BINGO" letter the fastest.  They were so cheerful and excited!

#3 Some of the children. How cute they are?! I remember that the left one named Miranda (which she said she want to be a chef someday! cute!) and unfortunately forgotten the name of 2 other boys on the left. They are discussing seriously  for strategies to get the paper marked as fast as possible. Somehow I'm imagining that they are Indonesian' Zhou Yu and Zhu Ge Liang in the future. Ha!

#4 The motivation time brought by one of FEUI alumni's which had almost the same background as the children (which most of them are poor and ended as an buskers, street troubadours, etc so they can pay for their education fee and helping their family) and finally managed to graduate from FEUI. This man was truly, truly an inspiration for the children.

Overall, this event was magnificent! However, one to be complained for was SEVERAL of internees didn't even have the willingness to adapt and migle with the children here. They were too busy with their own talk and groups, blame the level of education, and "social level" I think. But as a whole, we made quite a teamwork here!

After this event, as an internee in a big business company, I've learned that there are so much things to do outside the office and the whole kind of "smoothly-planned life" we always think of. Out there, there were people who are willing to risk their established life to serve children who are in need of better education. Taking examples from several educating volunteers in this foundation, our life now is still quite meaningless to other people. We are still always think of ourselves selfishly.

Maybe I'm still don't have that kind of bravery to serve the community as a full-timer, and I definitely give a full salute to them whose life are fully dedicated to help others. Maybe I can't participate directly in action, but sure in the future I'd like to participate in supporting better children education in other kind of form. Money, prayer, donations, and other stuffs I can think of. Definitely.

Farm - Fiesta! Fun Painting

Last Tuesday on August 7th 2012, I've spontaneously went to my company's CSR program on The Learning Farm, Puncak. We were there to help them to PAINT some buildings in exchange to the farm tour. Excited eh?

Actually, what makes me like "I want to go there!" spontaneously because I think what has been described as "Painting" is like help them to draw and make some kind of random pictures on the wall and 'hell yeah ok that's my speciality, bring it on', to mess with pictures, but then, I was wrong. What generally describes as painting was definitely painting walls. with white paint. No fuuuuuun!

OK girl, to much fantasy, your head is a mess.

So, at least that was the only NO FUN part. The rest? It's all only about beautiful panoramas EVERYWHERE.

We we're taken to see the goats! What surprise me that the farm always makes their organic fertilizer using goats (and bunnies, and cows!) shit and urine and I was like 'Oh gosh. This vegetables contain urine. The hell I want to eat vegetables anymore'. *oh come on! Finally I eat the vegetables too anyway. Don't want to think about the fertilizer, just eat the fresh vegetables!

Anyway, this is the hot house used for grow some vegetables seed. With me in there.

After they taking us for tour de farm, finally! The FUN part. Painting. Smiiiilee! Hide your grumbles! Show the biiiigest smile ever!

Believe me, the whole kind of painting things! It's tiring!!! Super tiring!! Not to mention my friend said that there are some spots on the building that are occupied by some ghosts that WATCHING US PAINT *alright, that's scary duuuude! However, I will make no fun again about this whole painting job. It's hard. All hail builder and painter (that makes great this kind of a job seems like an easy job)

Finally, after super tiring session of painting, we were gifted by A LOT of VEGETABLES. House wife! In action!

Wonder why female are dominating this kind of CSR work? I bet their imagination is not too far from me. Next time: PAINTING and DRAWING are different.

So far, I enjoyed the trip. While the painting session is totally tiring, but other sessions are beyond my imagination, even better. I just wanna go out and leave the boring office and have some fun and I did! Another fresh start for tomorrow at the office. I hope.

n.b.: The most exciting thing from this activities is my shoes are totally RUINED by paint. Yay I'll buy new shoes!
